This special show happened during MBS' 'Music Week', held in October 2014. In it, four members of Morning Musume。´14 talked about the Musume。's music history. Our hosts for this programme are Morning Musume。 9ki Fukumura Mizuki and Sayashi Riho, and 10ki  Iikubo Haruna and Ishida Ayumi.

MoMusu Lyrics Talk

To commemorate the upcoming release of Morning Musume。´14's triple-A single 'Tiki Bun/ Shabadabadoo/ Mikaeri Bijin', the girls will be picking out a random word from the song lyrics, and they'll talk about something related to the chosen word.

First up is Tiki Bun! While the other girls go on about how cool it is, Mizuki likes the positive lyrics. Fuku-chan makes the first pick, and gets 'Uso' - 'Lie', in the sense of not telling the truth. The girls do often tell many small lies, like to family. Iikubo dredges up an incident where she had ice cream from the fridge without telling her mother.

Iikubo: And when my mother asked me if I knew what happened to her ice cream in the fridge, I was like 'No idea, I was at work the whole time, I wasn't at home'.

Fuku-chan then brings up an incident that happened to her: She was using her phone in the bath and fell asleep. Her phone ended up submerged in the bath. By the time she noticed it, the screen was no longer responding, stuck at Michishige-san's blog. Fuku-chan didn't admit that it had gone underwater. Instead she went for the classic kid's standby: feigning ignorance. 'Why isn't it moving?'

Ishida admits that the same thing happened to her recently. Ishida's mother had often been telling her to stop using her phone in the bath, so when it happened, Ishida said that her phone had been left in the wash instead of admitting that it had fallen in the tub.

Iikubo: And your mother still hasn't found out?
Ishida: I haven't been found out yet.
Iikubo: What'll you do if your mother's listening to this show?
Sayashi: Let's just keep it to ourselves, okay?
Ishida: Please don't spread this story.

Morning Musume。´14 history

With Morning Musume。 celebrating its 17th anniversary, in this second part, the girls look back on Morning Musume。's history, albeit from from when they joined.

2nd January 2011. The 9ki were announced at the Winter Hello! Con in Nakano Sunplaza. Fuku-chan's passing came as a surprise even to the other three 9ki, who had thought that they were the only successful candidates. So when Fuku-chan came out, Riho was like 'Who's this? Who's this?' Tsunku♂-san was the only one who knew about it, so there was a flurry of activity even amongst the cameramen, who had to quickly try to figure out where Fuku-chan was.

Mizuki herself was curious about who'd be getting in the 9ki at that announcement concert, and when her name was called, her mind went totally blank. As she went down the stairs, she felt like she could fall at any moment, her legs were trembling, she was crying hard,

After that, she had a chance to greet the other three. At first she was worried whether they would be on their guard around her, what with her being an experienced Kenshuusei and all. But with the shooting they had the day after, they soon got familiar with one another. Riho recalls referring to Fuku-chan as 'Fukumura-san' at the start, but now Riho is all touch-as-much-as-she-pleases with Fuku-chan's marshmallow skin. Fuku-chan does remembers Kanon and Riho-chan referring to her as Fukumura-san at first, but Eripon immediately went 'Can I just call you Mizuki?'

Ishida remembers watching videos of the announcement, seeing Fuku-chan's name being announced, the look of surprise she had in the bleachers, and coming down the stairs. 'How childish...' Ishida thought, despite being a kid herself. After all, the 9ki seemed so tiny in the midst of the mostly grown-up members of Morning Musume。at the time.

Sayashi Riho - Go Step Forward Ahead (B.L.T. U-17 vol 32)

It's your first solo appearance in 'BLT U-17'! How was your photo shoot at Tsukiji Fish Market?

It was like I was spending time in a dream. Ehehe.

There were lots of delicious things, weren't there?

I've gotten interested in Tsukiji recently. Of course I enjoy the eating, but I also do enjoy taking shoots at places to eat. Because it's said that places food spots make great pictures (laughs). I'm glad to have done a shooting at a place where I shine.

What was your favourite at today's location?

I ate lots, but the tamagoyaki was delicious.

Do you prefer your tamagoyaki sweet? Or salty?

When I came to Tokyo, I had sweet ones for the first time, and got into them. I'll go with either! At home we have salty tamagoyaki, so it makes me feel like I want to have something sweet as a side dish. But sweet ones are delicious even when they're cold, right? Freshly-made salty ones are super delicious. I like both!

How passionate (laughs).  Well then, what food brings out the energy of Sayashi Riho?

I love anything if it's delicious though...... (laughs) Ah, but there's a store called 'Atomu' in Okonomi-mura though.

There's stores like that in Hiroshima?

There's a building like that, and in it are several stall-like stores. I've only been there once though. My parents have lived in Kansai, and the Sayashi household okonomiyaki is in the Kansai style.

Oh my! Even though you're from Hiroshima!!

That's right. So I unexpectedly hadn't had a proper Hiroshima okonomiyaki before. I went to that store for a shooting a year ago, and when I tried eating it, I was like, 'Okonomiyaki could be this delicious?' Like I could cry. It was like I was eating a completely different thing. It had an unforgettable flavour. The volume was good, the texture was good, the taste was good, it was awesome. I remember being impressed!

You wouldn't see this kind of excitement in a normal interview! You're a completely different Riho-chan from usual (laughs). You don't have any preferences?

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that up to this point in time, I've never met a food I didn't like.

You do say some complicated things sometimes (laughs). But normally, senior high schoolers are the generation who are completely picky.  Would you like to tell people like that something?

That pea-green person!

That's right. Ikuta Erina-chan (laughs)

I love eating so much, despite carrying that burden while eating (laughs).

It's the physique, right? Riho-chan, the fans often mention it right, like you're becoming a ponyo (laughs).

They do (laughs). But now I'm told that I'm flat-chested. If I reduce the amount I eat a little, I immediately slim down. The amount you eat definitely shows in your body, right?

By the way, the direct theme of this talk is 'place', but as an example, what's a place that calms you down?

Places like Mejiro are calming.

What? The Mejiro on the Yamanote line!?

Yes. I've gone there alone, to Mejiro. I went to eat shaved ice.

Is that so.

It's a nice district. Even though it's in the city, it's relaxing. The food stores were fulfilling as well. It would be nice to live there.

You've done some full-blown research there (laughs).

I looked it up. It was summer, so I wanted to eat something cold, at a delicious shaved ice store. They poured on syrup that was made from real strawberries that had been boiled down ♥

What basis do you use to look for stores?

I normally like to go to places that have gotten popular. I do have an interest in food. If I could build up my commenting ability, perhaps I might become a food reporter? Like (NiTele's) Miura-announcer.

You'd be forgiven for going ponyo as well (laughs).

That's right! (laughs)

So we'll be going with Mejiro for a calm place?

Ah, Omotesando too.

You're putting in fashionable places (laughs).

Teeheehee. In the past I used to yearn for places like Harajuku and Shibuya, but they didn't feel like places that suited myself. Neither the clothes nor the streets. And then I probably chose grown-up clothes and streets.

Calming and relaxing, yup.

I've changed, because I was in primary school when I joined. Everyone gives up their frilly clothes to their sisters (laughs).

Our Music History ～Ongaku to Watashitachi～ Morning Musume。’14 Special - Part 1 of 3 (2014/10/08)

This special show happened during MBS' 'Music Week', held in October 2014. In it, four members of Morning Musume。´14 talked about their music history. 

In the second part, they talk about Morning Musume。 history from the joining of the 9ki. In the third part, they take random lyrics from their latest single and talk about something related to those lyrics.

We start with introductions from the girls.

10th gen member and subleader Iikubo Haruna would be turning twenty in a month's time, and is the oldest among the four of them. She'll also be chairing this 2-hour special. She hopes that she'll become more mature, having arrived at the two-decade milestone.

On the other hand, 9th gen subleader Fukumura Mizuki would be celebrating her 18th birthday on that month. Turning eighteen would also widen her scope of work, as it would allow her to participate in late-night programmes.

9th gen Sayashi Riho is 16, while Morning Musume。has just turned 17. In other words, Riho was born after Morning Musume。's formation - to be exact, the day after Morning Musume。's 'Summer Night Town' was released.

Lastly, 10th gen Ishida Ayumi is 17, but since she was born in January, she's in the same academic year as Fukumura Mizuki. However, she doesn't act her age - she likes messing around, so she says that she's the mental equivalent of a three-year old. However, she's almost 18 too, and even Tsunku♂ has told her recently, 'Ishida, you've turned eighteen, so do things properly', so she'd like to do her best to act grown-up.

Also, September also marked the 17th anniversary of Morning Musume。 At this point, they've been running high, with 5 consecutive first place singles.

Fukumura Mizuki: 'Music is something that can unite everyone'

Part 1: Influential songs

For this first part of the show, the topic of discussion is 'A song that influenced my life'. They'll be going through it in the usual order, but before each member talks about their chosen song, Tsunku♂'s latest comments on the girls would be read out.

For those not in the know, Tsunku♂ usually writes liner notes on his blog upon the release of a new song. Also included with the liner notes are comments on the girls. This time, they'd be looking at his comments from the release of Tiki Bun / Shabadabadoo/ Mikaeri Bijin.

Tsunku♂'s comment:
'I think she supports Michishige silently. And because of that,  she's levelled up, and it feels like she's got this drive to press forward.
In both dancing and singing, I think that she's grown to be a person who adds flavour to each of the new songs.'

Mizuki: It made me nervous to listen to it again.

Haruna really likes Mizuki's stylish dancing - it's intense, dynamic, suggestive - which comes as quite the contrast when compared to her calm looks. Riho touches on Tsunku♂'s mention of supporting Michishige silently: early on, Fuku-chan would focus on talking about her love of Hello! Project. But now, she contributes comments and properly wraps up MC segments. Mizuki herself has nothing to add, as this discussion is making her feel self-concious.

Well then, back to the topic of the song that influenced her life. Mizuki liked Mini Moni, finding the lyrics and the dances to their songs easy to remember. She would remember their songs in their entirety, and sing them with her mother.

The one she'd like to single out in particular would be Mini Moni's 'Rock 'n' Roll Kenchoushozaichi ~Oboechaina Series~'. It was an up-tempo song that she found easy to remember. As a plus, it also helped her in school, since it referenced all the prefectural capitals. It came as a surprise to her that the song was even included in school textbooks.

Iikubo agrees that the up-tempo beat makes it easier to remember. While it is up-tempo, Riho thinks that it isn't too fast, so parents and children can memorise it together. And in the middle of tests, you can play the song in your head.

Miyagi resident Ishida comments that the song even mentions local delicacies from some of the places, like sasakama from Miyagi, so you get to learn about local delicacies as well.

Morning Musume。´15 August 2015 Nationwide Handshake Events: Sayashi Riho

The Musume are at it again, going around the country to promote their latest single. This time, they're promoting their 59th single 'Oh my wish! / Sukatto My Heart / Imasugu Tobikomu Yuuki'.

What's also the norm for this promotion campaign is that the members hijack the official Musume Twitter account, and we get to follow the girls along as they go around the country.

Unfortunately for Sayashi watchers, no food was spilt this time around, unlike last year. Sayuloss must have made her less clumsy, as she does fine earlier this year as well.

This rehearsal that you're having in this studio today, is it for 【Morning Musume。'14 concert tour autumn  GIVE ME MORE LOVE ～ Michishige Sayumi Sotsugyou Kinen Special ～”】？（※ This interview was done before the aforementioned tour started）

Sayashi Riho： That's right。 I've danced the best I ever have at this rehearsal。 It's the best I've ever done, both in terms of time and movements。

What do you think would be the best-case outcome for this tour？

Sayashi Riho： I think that in many ways, this tour marks a turning point…… Recently、I've been really burning with this desire to raise the level of our performances。 I'm already a senior、 and a lot of people will watch videos of our performances and try to follow our moves。 Up to now, I've been performing while thinking that 「I have to learn more」、 but now I completely enjoy myself while doing it。 With this tour、 I've honestly got worries about the future…… But although 26th November will be the final day、 for some of the people who are attending the opening day  or the performances in between、 this will be the last performance where they'll be able to see Morning Musume。 with Michishige-san in it、 so I'd like us to always come out in fully perfect form。

That drive to improve your performing ability。 I think that's what we call 'the switch being flipped'、 but was there anything that led to it？

Sayashi Riho： I can't point out a particular moment where I can say 'That's it！'、 I think it was something I picked up watching all sorts of people performing。 And so it might not be related to Michishige-san、 I'd just occasionally watch someone's concert video and start thinking 「It'd be interesting if I could do this！」. It lights a fire in me when I notice things like that（laughs）。

Every time I've met with you, Sayashi-san, I got this impression that you 「shone」、 but today you seem the most dazzling that you've ever been。

Sayashi Riho： Thank you very much （laughs）！

Morning Musume。´15 Nationwide Simultaneous Handshake Events: RihoRiho in Hiroshima & Tokyo

Promoting their new single 'Seishun Kozou ga Naiteiru / Yuugure ha Ameagari / Ima Koko Kara', Morning Musume。 have once again held nationwide handshake event on the 16th and 17th of April. Their journeys were covered on Twitter, and I've compiled them by member, with accompanying translations.

RihoRiho disappoints this time around - she didn't spill any food, unlike the last two times.

The first 2-shot with the senior high 1st year Hello! next gen aces RihoRiho and Karin has been realised!!

In the photo shoot, with a slight touch of the hands, the 2 of them got self-concious.

A strange sense of nervousness was in the air (laughs)!

The distance between these 2 who are hardly close. The reason is...

In 2008, Karin joined the Hello! Pro Kenshuusei (then, the Hello! Pro Egg). On the other hand, RihoRiho passed the Morning Musume。 9th generation audition in 2011. Karin has a longer career, but RihoRiho's début came first... Observing the 2 of them during the photo shoot, they seemed bewildered as to whether they should interact as senpai, kouhai, or as if they were of the same generation.

Sayashi: A long time ago, while Karin-chan was still a Kenshuusei, we acted together in a stage play...

Miyamoto: How nostalgic! So we're starting with that story-!

Sayashi: Her career was longer than mine, so I had no idea what to refer to Karin-chan as. I ended up calling her Karin-chan-san.

That's a famous story amongst the fans (laughs).

Miyamoto: I often get called 'Chan-sa~n' at concerts, and I've taken to it!

Sayashi: Really? It's good if that's the case.

The occasional appearance of honorifics. Moreover, RihoRiho was telling Karin about the piano, and the moment RihoRiho's hand brushed Karin, the 2 of them turned red. During the photo shoot, there was this weird sense of tension floating in the air.

Miyamoto: We've worked together at Hello! Concerts and stage plays. Also, there was the drama. I got nervous when we touched hands (laughs).

Sayashi: That's good, since I thought it was just me who was nervous... My hands were trembling when we talked about secrets (laughs).

They say that they're nervous because it's their first 2-shot shooting, but that isn't the only reason. As peers, they are in the position of leading the members as the ace of their respective units. As comrades fighting under the same circumstances, you would think that they'd get along with each other by exchanging stories from their private life or even a single grouse, but the 2 of them did not. Despite not saying anything directly, you could get glimpses of their sense of rivalry.

Sayashi: With Michishige-san's graduation and the entry of new members, I think that the whole group will be facing an upheaval from now on. I'd like to play the role where the others'll think that it'll be all right if they keep pace with Sayashi. After Michishige-san's graduation, in order for Morning Musume。'14 to be at the centre of Hello!, I have to do my best now.

Miyamoto: That amazing~, you wouldn't think we're the same age! I'm still desperately trying to get my group's name known... But, you can hear loud cheers when Morning Musume。-san appears for Hello! Project , I'd like Juice=Juice to be the group that gets the biggest cheers someday. That's my secret goal (laughs).

Sayashi: That's the first time I've heard of it!! Morning Musume。'14 have to do our best too, right?

After the interview ended, the 2 of them looked at one another and laughed. They exchanged 'Thank you!'s and left the studio together. That sense of distance had them away from one another, and not getting close, the ace personality comes to mind. I'm confident that these 2 will undoubtedly be supporting Hello! Project from now on.

Backstage at Nakano Sunplaza、 there's a sofa that can fit ２ people、 and that's become the place where Okai Chisato always takes a nap。
Once、 when Okai was intending to take nap、 it just so happened that Hagiwara was already sleeping there、 and this photo shows the conduct of Okai, who wanted to sleep no matter what。
At the table where they normally fix up their make up、 she messily swept out the stuff that was on it、 and after making some space、 she just slept like that。
By the way、 the light bulb just above her stomach gets so hot to the extent that touching it will give you burns、 so it's a pretty thrill-seeking sleeping form。 It might help out for dieting・・・ but everyone, please do not copy this！！

We hardly ever do、 however I recently went to see MoMusu。（Morning Musume。'14）-san's live performance。 Sayashi-chan、 she looked great。

Probably the other prolific Actors School Hiroshima alumnus that idol fans would be familiar with would be ex-Sakura Gakuin member Nakamoto Suzuka, perhaps more familiar as SU-METAL of BABYMETAL fame.

{For context, this interview comes from the September 2012 edition of Top Yell magazine. This sets the interview after Niigaki Risa's graduation and the release of One Two Three/The Matenrou Show, around the time of Aitai Aitai Aitai na, and before Oda Sakura joined MM. ℃-ute themselves were still building up steam at this point, with over half a year until their labours bore fruit with the Budokan and France announcement. For even more disclosure, the version I'm using is a reproduction of the article from Top Yell +'s 2012 H!P compilation. Sayashi「Electronic sounds don't wake me up. I can't wake up unless it's with an alarm that rings mechanically」

Ishida「Previously, at a hotel, when I was in the same room as Sayashi-san, she said to me 『Ayumi-chan, wake me up tomorrow kay』,  so when I tried waking her up the next morning・・・
『（Brusquely shaking her hands）Shuddup！』」（Audience laughs）

Oda「Me too. When I tried waking up Sayashi-san when she was next to me on the Shinkansen, she said 『Wake me up when we have to split』
When we arrived at the station, Sayashi-san was still sleeping after I had gotten out of my seat、 so when I woke her up she was in a rush, going『Wake me up sooner！』」（Audience laughs）

Sayashi「Sorry、 I don't remember either of those happening」

Ishida「You know、 Sayashi-san picks and chooses people。 If it was Michishige-san waking her up
At first she'd be irritated but once she's confirmed with her own eyes that it's Michishige-san、she's all  『Ah、 my bad』」（Roar of laughter from the audience）

Oda「Basically, it's like she assumes that kind of behaviour towards us」

Sayashi「・・・I can't do anything but admit that」（Audience laughs）

―― Firstly, we'd like to hear about the first of your two songs from the double A single 「Toki wo Koe Sora wo Koe」 (Crossing time, crossing space)！ What sort of song is it？
【Ikuta Erina】　With such a grand title (laughs), I think that this song that is able to evoke a response in everyone. It's packed with tons of lyrics such as 'On days when you're lonely and can't sleep, it's okay to cry,' impressive lyrics that can open up your mind. 

【Ishida Ayumi】 Normally, when we tell the audience that we'll be performing our latest song, all the fans would obstinately try to dance along together with us. But when it comes to this song, all of them listen to it carefully, even though they've already seen us perform it at concerts [and thus would have been able to follow along with the dance]. 

【Fukumura Mizuki】　That hasn't happened before. I think that this song really does cross time. As Eripon (Ikuta) mentioned, there are plenty of lyrics that can resonate with the listener. At the same time, the lyrics seem to talk about the future. The music video (MV) is like that as well, and this amazing 'sense of space' comes out during the concerts! Even the dance looks like we're moving in water, bringing to mind a sense of us floating in zero gravity。
