Narration: Berryz Kobo celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut on the 3rd of March this year. At this landmark for the girls, The Girls Live will cover the shooting of the new music video entitled 'Futsuu, Idol 10-Nen yatterannai desho!?'
Miyabi: It's a song that can't be sung by anyone but us. It's definitely a song that we can sing because we've been doing it for 10 years.
Momoko: About 95% of what's in the song isn't made up. But I think that continuing to do any one thing for over 10 years is really difficult, and this isn't limited to being an idol. For Momochi, I think that Berryz Kobo devoted our whole youth to it.
Narration: Berryz Kobo made their début on the 3rd March of 2004 with an average age of 10.8 years. All of the girls were in primary school, and they've released at least 3 singles annually since their début. The number of singles they've announced up to now amount to 34 singles, and they've maintained a record of being in the top 10 of the weekly singles ranking since 2005.
Narration: In 2007, 4 years after their debut, they held an independent tour at Saitama Super Arena. In one day, 20,000 people made their way there, and they established a record as the youngest performers for that venue. From 2009, they had overseas performances in places like Korea, America, Thailand, Myanmar. They are hugely active not only locally, but overseas as well. This new song, just for these girls, is a work that's packed with various memories of those 10 years.
Chinami: There's a line that goes 'We gave up all our weekends for this'. Honestly, since we were all in primary school when we made our début, we had school on Monday to Friday, and live performances on Saturdays and Sundays. That really was how it was until we graduated from high school. I really think that it's good that I didn't run away from it.
Risako: Honestly, although there were a lot of things that were fun, there were a lot of things that were tough as well. There were countless times when I said I wanted to quit, and things that made me cry. It was really tough, but it was definitely thanks to the members being there, as well as the staff-san and the fans, the support from various of people is probably what stopped me from quitting, and here I am.
Narration: Mixing with adults from when they were in primary school, the girls survived through the relentless idol world. However, continuing on, they received support from those around them. What are the feelings of those girls as the present Berryz Kobo?
Miyabi: Compared to ages ago, we definitely all get along better now. We can straight out give our opinions, and since we can understand our mutual feelings, we're just like family. It something that's really precious, something I can't be without. If Berryz Kobo wasn't around, I'd have nowhere to go.
Narration: During the shooting, the members ask each other for advice on the choreography. Getting to 10 years, you could say Berryz Kobo have become like family
Saki: From now on, I'd like to continue saying 'We're Berryz Kobo' with these 7 people. Since we've got to 10 years, it's not just about getting the 'Job well done'. There's still a lot of things that we want to do to make those dreams come true, so we work hard every day. I think we have to work hard. Things change every day. To get to grips with it, we can't forget our spirit, things like will-power or soul. I'd like the 7 of us to keep on working hard from now on.
Narration: Having continued on for 10 years, there are many things they understand. The new song packed with the feelings of those girls, 'Futssu, Idol 10-Nen yatterannai desho!?' goes on sale on the 4th of June.
