1001 Nights - The 15th Night: Shimizu Saki & Natsuyaki Miyabi

On the 4th of December 2014, Captain Shimizu Saki and Vice-captain Natsuyaki Miyabi held a talk show for the Hello! Shop's series of talk events. The theme was 'At that time, Berryz were...' There were two shows, the first focusing on 2005 and the second on 2007.

Going through the fan tweets about the events via the hashtag #ベリーズハロショ, I tweeted translations of the reports that piqued my interest. By the end of it, I'd tweeted enough that I thought it'd be a pity to lose them to the mists of Twitter's timeline. So here are a collection of the translations I made based on the reports.

Quick disclaimer, this isn't comprehensive, some reports were missed out due to lack of interest/complexity/laziness/all the above. The day before the event, Miyabi asked if there would be a script. She was informed that there wouldn't be one, 'Because Shimizu will be taking the lead'.

Captain had heard nothing of this.

So, without a script, the event started. The focus for the first part was the year 2005, which covers their singles from Suppecial Generation to Gag 100kai bun Aishite Kudasai, plus 2 albums.

Going through photos of those youthful days, where they're without make-up

Captain: Nowadays we've got to have make-up on

Upon wota request, they play the music video for Gag 100kai bun Aishite Kudasai. While it plays, the two of them start talking about the memories of their 'field trip' at the end of Dai 2 Seichouki. Their memories aren't that clear, but they note that the one who remembers the most about it is Chinami.

During their 'Switch On' tour, Captain was still in middle school. The day of her school's athletic meet, they had a performance scheduled, so once Captain was done, she rushed to get on a Shinkansen for Osaka. Their manager was policing the athletic festival, but it seems that her mother took a lot of photos she shouldn't have.

While she was sorting out her home, Captain found her randoseru from primary school. Her classmates had written messages on it, and she's still in contact with friends from those days.

Captain: In our current tour, Suppecial Generation plays during the opening video. On our opening day, everyone did the calls, but they've been decreasing day by day.

During the shooting of Munasawagi Scarlet's music video, Miyabi got into a fight with Chinami. Their quarrel was quite the hot topic, and while Miyabi doesn't remember the cause, it had them not speaking a single word to one another. These sort of quarrels, where they forgot the cause, often happened.

Berryz themselves got into quarrels, since all of them were stubborn.

Miyabi: Clashes with Momo got pretty furious
Captain:  Even now...

Captain and Miya have a good laugh seeing Momo stumble at the end of the PV for Piriri to Yukou, and play it back.

Going through the bonus footage from the Switch On tour, the sight of Momo reading her poem with a smug look and acting all cool have Captain & Miya rolling on the floor laughing.

The both of them really enjoy Akai Nikkicho.
Captain still listens to the songs that came out before they passed their auditions, and those songs are still able to make her excited.
Miyabi remembers being super nervous when she performed Momoiro Kataomoi at a Hello! Con, because Ayaya was right in front of her eyes.

And the first show comes to an end!

We come to the second part of the event, where the focus is on the year 2007.

Captain picks up Miyabi's photo book 'Miyabi', which came out in 2007. Miyabi herself thinks it isn't that great, and that she herself prefers Risako's 'pure+'

The day after Berryz' Saitama Super Arena concert, the following caption was in a newspaper:

'Berryz Kobo surpass MoMusu'

They start playing the music video for Kokuhaku no Funsui Hiroba.

Miyabi: The only thing that comes to mind is Iwao-san's face

Due to its popularity with the wota, the music video for Loving You Too Much is played.
Captain comments about her face being puffy at the time.
She'd turned twenty, so she was like, 'Yeah! Let's drink up!'
That, plus the snacks she had while drinking, led to her round face at the time.
Now she's more moderate.
Miyabi comments that Captain gets cuter when she drinks.

Captain asks Miyabi if she should grow out her hair, but Miyabi replies that it's fine as it is.

Miyabi likes having weird make-up done, so Halloween always has her pumped.
Berryz had a Naruchika concert on Halloween, so they dressed up as Disney characters.

This wasn't enough for Miyabi, so after that, she added more blood.
However, they were going off for a meal with everyone, so Miyabi had to remove it while everyone else was cleaning up.
But once they got back to the hotel, Miya reapplied the blood in order to send photos to her mother.

The other day, Captain got a glimpse of Miyabi's brother. Captain's fairly familiar with him, since she often sees him when Miya gets dropped off. However, it surprised her that he had lost a lot of weight and had become good-looking. His loss of weight surprised Miya too.

Miyabi: Guys lose weight easily, huh?
(Looks over the audience)
Miyabi: Well, I guess it actually depends on the individual.
