Managed to catch a Juice=Juice talk event on the 24th of August at Kawasaki on my recent trip to Japan. Sayuki and Karin-chan were there to promote their upcoming single 'Dream Road - Kokoro ga Odoridashiteru - / KEEP ON Josho Shiko / Ashita Yaro wa Baka Yaro'.
Not willing to preorder something that I couldn't collect, I was stuck behind a crowd of about two hundred people who had preordered. From my vantage point, I could only see Sayuki and Karin-chan's heads, floating above a sea of heads.

Q. As an only child, which Juice=Juice member would Karin-chan like to have as a sister?
Karin: Nope, nada, not a single one of them. If I was forced to picked one, I'd pick Uemuu as my younger sister.

Some notes from Aarii's press release for her second PB, 'Akari II', held on the 25th of July.
♪ She notes that this might be the last PB with her in a school uniform, while she's still a student.
♪ She thinks (i.e. hopes) that her expressions have improved from her first PB that was released half a year ago, like how she closes her eyes and how she uses her mouth.
♪ The members commented that the PB was a good PB that can be enjoyed by both guys and girls.
♪ Aarii's favourite photo. It received high praise from the members, and their usual make-up artist commented that it looked nice:
♪ It was shot in Guam, her first time overseas for a PB. She found it difficult to enumerate the currency (US dollars and cents), so her manager had to help out.
♪ She went to Kmart when she had some time to herself. She bought body cream at a store in Guam, which came in huge sizes. She bought macadamia nuts as a souvenir for the members, which were well received.
♪ Juice=Juice's will be having their Budokan concert in November. She'd like to make use of the experience of having gone around the 47 prefectures and having performed in Hong Kong and Taipei.
♪ She's really happy to be in good health for this press release, as she had been suffering from tonsillitis when they had the press release for the first PB.
♪ For Aarii, the first half of the year went by quickly. H!P has changed in many ways as well, like the addition of Kasahara Momona to ANGERME. She's happy to have come out with a second PB. She'd like to do her best in the second half as well.
♪ She is playing Pokemon GO, and had caught five pokemon on the day itself. Pidgeys were possibly among the ones she caught. She hasn't caught a Pikachu yet. She's still level four, so she can't even go for the gyms. But as they continue on with their tours, the members are looking forward to going around and catching pokemon as they go around. Yuka's probably the one that's made the most progress - she mentioned that she'd hit level five.
Reporter: What's the Pokemon that you'd like to catch most? Aarii: 'Definitely Pikachu!' Reporter: There are apparently some in Shinjuku. Aarii: Really!? REALLY!!? Well, I've got to go there! (laughs)

To commemorate the upcoming release of Morning Musume。´14's triple-A single 'Tiki Bun/ Shabadabadoo/ Mikaeri Bijin', the girls will be picking out a random word from the song lyrics, and they'll talk about something related to the chosen word.
First up is Tiki Bun! While the other girls go on about how cool it is, Mizuki likes the positive lyrics. Fuku-chan makes the first pick, and gets 'Uso' - 'Lie', in the sense of not telling the truth. The girls do often tell many small lies, like to family. Iikubo dredges up an incident where she had ice cream from the fridge without telling her mother.
Iikubo: And when my mother asked me if I knew what happened to her ice cream in the fridge, I was like 'No idea, I was at work the whole time, I wasn't at home'.
Fuku-chan then brings up an incident that happened to her: She was using her phone in the bath and fell asleep. Her phone ended up submerged in the bath. By the time she noticed it, the screen was no longer responding, stuck at Michishige-san's blog. Fuku-chan didn't admit that it had gone underwater. Instead she went for the classic kid's standby: feigning ignorance. 'Why isn't it moving?'
Ishida admits that the same thing happened to her recently. Ishida's mother had often been telling her to stop using her phone in the bath, so when it happened, Ishida said that her phone had been left in the wash instead of admitting that it had fallen in the tub.
Iikubo: And your mother still hasn't found out? Ishida: I haven't been found out yet. Iikubo: What'll you do if your mother's listening to this show? Sayashi: Let's just keep it to ourselves, okay? Ishida: Please don't spread this story.

Morning Musume。´14 history
With Morning Musume。 celebrating its 17th anniversary, in this second part, the girls look back on Morning Musume。's history, albeit from from when they joined.
2nd January 2011. The 9ki were announced at the Winter Hello! Con in Nakano Sunplaza. Fuku-chan's passing came as a surprise even to the other three 9ki, who had thought that they were the only successful candidates. So when Fuku-chan came out, Riho was like 'Who's this? Who's this?' Tsunku♂-san was the only one who knew about it, so there was a flurry of activity even amongst the cameramen, who had to quickly try to figure out where Fuku-chan was.
Mizuki herself was curious about who'd be getting in the 9ki at that announcement concert, and when her name was called, her mind went totally blank. As she went down the stairs, she felt like she could fall at any moment, her legs were trembling, she was crying hard,
After that, she had a chance to greet the other three. At first she was worried whether they would be on their guard around her, what with her being an experienced Kenshuusei and all. But with the shooting they had the day after, they soon got familiar with one another. Riho recalls referring to Fuku-chan as 'Fukumura-san' at the start, but now Riho is all touch-as-much-as-she-pleases with Fuku-chan's marshmallow skin. Fuku-chan does remembers Kanon and Riho-chan referring to her as Fukumura-san at first, but Eripon immediately went 'Can I just call you Mizuki?'
Ishida remembers watching videos of the announcement, seeing Fuku-chan's name being announced, the look of surprise she had in the bleachers, and coming down the stairs. 'How childish...' Ishida thought, despite being a kid herself. After all, the 9ki seemed so tiny in the midst of the mostly grown-up members of Morning Musume。at the time.
The host has an extremely enthusiastic welcome for Saki-chan... and a terse, much-less-excited welcome for Momochi. Momochi immediately points out the difference in treatment, but the host brushes it off. As you'll see, this'll be a recurring theme. All in good fun though.
Thoughts on their hiatus Shimizu: It's not as if it isn't sad to part, but beyond that sadness, we'd like to enjoy the moment. Tsugunaga: Yup, it's really sad.
Their plans post-hiatus Shimizu: I don't have anything decided yet. Host: You haven't thought of anything? Shimizu: Not yet, though it is something that's playing on my mind. Host: It's playing in your mind. While on the other hand, you've got Momochi, who's all carefree. (laughs) Tsugunaga: Lots of things have been playing in my mind as well~ Host: So Momochi, what have you been thinking about? Tsugunaga: ...Lots of things... ♥ Shimizu: (laughing) She's running away from the question! Tsugunaga: ...Lots of things! (laughs)
What they do on their days off Tsugunaga: For me, the greatest luxury is getting to sleep without my alarm clock on, and waking up at noon. Shimizu: I go shopping, I love it. But I'm generally indecisive, so if I go with friends, I'll end up taking lots of their time. So I generally go alone.
What's most important to you Host: What's your eternal thing, the most important thing to you, something you can't give up? Shimizu: Berryz Kobo is important to me- Host: I see. Well, that's obvious- Tsugunaga: (cutting in) It's the same for me~!
(Laughter) Shimizu: She said something different before. Tsugunaga: No, that's what I think from the bottom of my heart. Shimizu: Momochi, just a moment ago, you were like, 'It's definitely got to be my cuteness ♥' (laughs) Tsugunaga: Well, that's a fact after all (laughs) Host: Well of course Berryz Kobo is important to you, but besides that, is there anything that's important to you? Tsugunaga: Well, as mentioned before, it'd be my cuteness. It's not that I want it to continue forever, but it continues to remain eternal of its own accord. Host: Scary, isn't it? It's neverending? Tsugunaga: It's neverending. It never stops evolving. (laughs)
So if you've read this summary of Maimi's radio show, you've more or less seen this graph. While I got most of it correct, upon doing the detailed translations, I noticed that I'd got some things wrong.
Corrections
Firstly, I originally had Chiitan with Riho as her choice of girlfriend, when it should have been MaiMai. Guess I accidentally misread Chiitan's answer to question 5 rather than 6 when I was skimming through the book.
That's relatively inconsequential compared to the next correction, since this one actually throws a wrench in the analysis of the fellow who wrote in to Maimi - it actually adds another mutual girlfriend-boyfriend pair.
We can figure out where and how the listener went wrong though. Let's go back to the girlfriend question, particularly Kananan's answer.
Nakanishi Kana: Oda Sakura-chan. I'd confess by buying her her favourite ice cream. 'Please give me a squeeze!'. Also, even MeiMei would be fine.
While it looks like a throwaway comment, let's take a look at Meimi's pick for boyfriend.
Tamura Meimi: Nakanishi Kana. Her voice is low and she's got her Osaka-ben, so she sounds like a guy when you hear her talking. But personality-wise, she's a childish girl who can't be left by herself though...... (laughs). For the present...... no idea what I'd do.
Which makes them a mutual boyfriend-girlfriend pair, at least by my count. You can see where the mistake happened though - everyone else chose one person, while Kanana tucked away her nomination for MeiMei at the end. Mutual relationships. As a result, we have 4 mutual boyfriend-girlfriend pairs: Yajima Maimi ♂ x Suzuki Airi ♀ Hagiwara Mai ♀ x Kudo Haruka ♀ Ikuta Erina ♂ x Inaba Manaka ♀ Nakanishi Kana ♂ x Tamura Meimi ♀
Lost in the Sayashi's sudden graduation announcement, Aarii's 1001 Nights event kind of slipped under the radar. This marked the 24th in this series of talk events, held on 29th October 2015, a scant few hours before Riho dropped the bomb on us.
Usual disclaimer applies: these are based on fan reports, noob translator will most likely add even more confusion, translations are generally done from a first person perspective out of own habit.

Aarii had been hit by tonsillitis before the event, so this was her second appearance after her diagnosis. (Her first appearance was at the PB release event 3 days before, where she'd apparently just gotten off the drip before appearing).
Also, regular chairperson Nishiguchi-san wasn't around, so the event started off with an unnamed member of staff acting as the chair.

I was happy at first, but I asked for less swimsuits. I'd already told our manager-san that I was really against swimsuits, but it the end, the photo book ended up being 80% swimsuits.
Having finished the questions in the Winter 2015 Maruwakari Book, I'm currently in the process of working though the Summer 2015 Maruwakari questionnaires. With 10 questions for the 51 Hello! Project members, plus 9 questions for the 14 new faces among them. it adds up to 636 questions. To tide you over while I work on the translations, here's some clips from the DVD that came with the book.
Throughout the DVD, each of the members were asked what they'd like to do in the summer. Also linked are their answers to the same question for the PokeMo questionnaires, translations courtesy of Rokun. This'll also allow you to make a consistency check, whether or not it actually their answers are actually what they want, or are they just coming up with an answer on the spot, as it were.
Airi: Every year she says that she'd like to go to a summer festival, or play with fireworks, so this year she'd like to add BBQ-ing to that
Chisato: Take pictures of sea fish - she goes to the sea every year with her family, and since she sees lots of fish while swimming, she'd like to take pictures of them
Mai: Go to the sea and watch fireworks - she hasn't gone anywhere this year, so she'd like to go and watch fireworks in her private time

In the second part, they talk about Morning Musume。 history from the joining of the 9ki. In the third part, they take random lyrics from their latest single and talk about something related to those lyrics.
We start with introductions from the girls.
10th gen member and subleader Iikubo Haruna would be turning twenty in a month's time, and is the oldest among the four of them. She'll also be chairing this 2-hour special. She hopes that she'll become more mature, having arrived at the two-decade milestone.
On the other hand, 9th gen subleader Fukumura Mizukiwould be celebrating her 18th birthday on that month. Turning eighteen would also widen her scope of work, as it would allow her to participate in late-night programmes.
9th gen Sayashi Riho is 16, while Morning Musume。has just turned 17. In other words, Riho was born after Morning Musume。's formation - to be exact, the day after Morning Musume。's 'Summer Night Town' was released.
Lastly, 10th gen Ishida Ayumi is 17, but since she was born in January, she's in the same academic year as Fukumura Mizuki. However, she doesn't act her age - she likes messing around, so she says that she's the mental equivalent of a three-year old. However, she's almost 18 too, and even Tsunku♂ has told her recently, 'Ishida, you've turned eighteen, so do things properly', so she'd like to do her best to act grown-up.
Also, September also marked the 17th anniversary of Morning Musume。 At this point, they've been running high, with 5 consecutive first place singles.

A comment concerning music Fukumura Mizuki: 'Music is something that can unite everyone'
Part 1: Influential songs
For this first part of the show, the topic of discussion is 'A song that influenced my life'. They'll be going through it in the usual order, but before each member talks about their chosen song, Tsunku♂'s latest comments on the girls would be read out.
Tsunku♂'s comment:
'I think she supports Michishige silently. And because of that, she's levelled up, and it feels like she's got this drive to press forward.
In both dancing and singing, I think that she's grown to be a person who adds flavour to each of the new songs.'
Mizuki: It made me nervous to listen to it again.
Haruna really likes Mizuki's stylish dancing - it's intense, dynamic, suggestive - which comes as quite the contrast when compared to her calm looks. Riho touches on Tsunku♂'s mention of supporting Michishige silently: early on, Fuku-chan would focus on talking about her love of Hello! Project. But now, she contributes comments and properly wraps up MC segments. Mizuki herself has nothing to add, as this discussion is making her feel self-concious.
Well then, back to the topic of the song that influenced her life. Mizuki liked Mini Moni, finding the lyrics and the dances to their songs easy to remember. She would remember their songs in their entirety, and sing them with her mother.
The one she'd like to single out in particular would be Mini Moni's 'Rock 'n' Roll Kenchoushozaichi ~Oboechaina Series~'. It was an up-tempo song that she found easy to remember. As a plus, it also helped her in school, since it referenced all the prefectural capitals. It came as a surprise to her that the song was even included in school textbooks.
Iikubo agrees that the up-tempo beat makes it easier to remember. While it is up-tempo, Riho thinks that it isn't too fast, so parents and children can memorise it together. And in the middle of tests, you can play the song in your head.
Miyagi resident Ishida comments that the song even mentions local delicacies from some of the places, like sasakama from Miyagi, so you get to learn about local delicacies as well.
YajiMap Sweets Shugyou no Tabi (YajiMap Sweets Study Trip) was a serialisation in the idol magazine UTB (and its sister magazine UTB+), where the lovely Yajima Maimi would introduce stores dealing in delicacies. A hand-drawn map would also be included, hence 'YajiMap'.
The editors must have had high expectations for this serialisation - they didn't just stop at compiling the articles into a book, they even made recordings of her trips. Those recordings would later be packaged into a 'Special Making' DVD, where today's picspam comes from.
So without further ado, let's go on a sweets study trip, with Maimi as the main dish.

I'll be quickly listing some of the events that occurred over the last year, then I'll be looking back over translations I've done. Did something like this last year as well.
Here are some highlights from Miyazaki Yuka's 1001 Nights Hello! Shop talk, held on 12th February 2015. As usual for these events, fan reports on Twitter are my sources. Hashtag was #北陸新幹線, which says Hokuriku Shinkansen. This is relevant due to its newly opened extension, linking Tokyo to Yuka-chan's home prefecture of Ishikawa.
The first part of the talk was Miyazaki Yuka's Top 10 favourite things in Ishikawa, giving our girl an opportunity to boast about the great things in her now better-connected home town. (reference)
If you've been following the Maachan Kuduu Senpai Tanboudan series, you might have noticed a common point: Every interview, Maachan will ask, 'What is your favourite tree?'
According to the editor's notes in the compiled book, their interview with Tsugunaga Momoko was the sole interview where this question wasn't asked in the original published version. This became such an issue that fans contacted the magazine to ask whether Maachan had forgotten to ask the question to Momochi. Turns out that Maachan had done her job - they had just edited the question out. Thankfully for everyone who was anxious to know Momochi's horticultural preferences, it does turn up in the compiled book version.
Momoko's answer, in fact, was fairly direct - the peach (momo) tree, obviously. On those lines, Maro was the only one who had done her homework for the serialisation and came ready with an answer. However, not everyone was as prepared as the two of them, and generally needed some time to think about this question. This happened despite Risako having already warned most of the Kids. Being the experienced professionals they are, some of them pulled the classic trick of turning the question back to Maachan.
With the release of their new single, Seishun Kozou ga Naiteiru / Yuugure ha Ameagari / Ima Koko Kara , Morning Musume。´15 would once again be holding nationwide simultaneous handshake events to promote it. As usual, we also have an associated video to let us know who would be going where.
The girls were actually informed that they would be recording comments on their new single for a TV programme. Having made their comments about the new single, an announcement suddenly plays, informing them about where they'd be holding the events. Unlike previous occasions, where their destinations were determined by the luck of the draw, this time, their destinations had been predetermined and it was more a matter of informing them. This would give each member an opportunity to do home town promotions on at least one of the two days.
Also, the voice over was done by Juice=Juice's Miyazaki Yuka. We can't let Karin-chan be the only Juice to hog MM'15 video time, after all.
Aired on the 11th of January 2015, this first broadcast of the year has ℃-ute's Suzuki Airi dressing up her fellow H!P members in furisode, formal long-sleeved kimonos. One ceremony where furisodes are usually worn are coming-of-age ceremonies, and Airi will be dressing up the 7 H!P girls who will be celebrating their coming-of-age this year: Juice=Juice's Miyazaki Yuka, Morning Musume。´15's Iikubo Haruna, ANGERME's Wada Ayaka and Fukuda Kanon, ℃-ute's Okai Chisato and Suzuki Airi, and Berryz Kobo's Sugaya Risako.
On the 26th of March 2015, the reborn unit 'Country Girls' had an event at Ikebukuro Sunshine City's Fountain Plaza to commemorate their newly released single 'Itooshikutte Gomen ne / Koidorobo'. Here are some of the highlights, gleaned from various coverage videos and articles.
Introductions Ozeki: 'I think that there are still people who don't know about me, so I'd like to tell you about myself. Firstly, I'm really cute, the most spirited in Country Girls, with the best figure.' Momoko: 'I think that there are people who are knowing me for the first time as Country Girls' Tsugunaga Momoko, so Momochi would like to fully appeal to you. Momochi, within Country Girls, is the cutest, the most cheerful, with a so-so figure.'

For Berryz Kobo's fanclub bus tour, we went to Minakami Onsen in Gunma prefecture.
Today, we had an 8-shot with all 7 members of Berryz Kobo, a time-restricted apple picking event, and to top off the day, there was a special concert.
That concert was really, really fun. Berryz' power to entertain was explosive, and they pulled it off wonderfully.
I'm keeling over with intoxication and fatigue, but I thought I'd write about it at length.

The first outfits were the encore outfits from the recent Budokan concert.
In a rare turn of events, Momochi had only the left side of her hair done up, and that unexpectedly made my heart race. (^_^;)

With 'Anshinkan' at the start and the long-unperformed 'Passion', the audience's voltage was already charged up, but we were splendidly bowled over by the 'messing around' corner in the middle!
According to Captain, these were the members' selfish requests being realised, but first up was 'Yurushite-nyan Taisou' by Captain in her kindergarten cosplay (this was familiar) and, unexpectedly, Miyabi-chan in lieu of Momochi.

Continuing on with 'Gag 100', at the middle section where Chinami goes 'No~Nyuu' (And it's been 5 years since Chinami last went 'No~Nyuu'), it became a 'No~Nyuu' call & response festival between those on-stage and the venue. I should note that unexpectedly, Captain's NoNyu was sexy-cute.
For 'Kozukai Up Daisakusen', Maasa was the mother dressed in an apron, Kumai-chan was a primary schooler lugging a randoseru (a knapsack associated with elementary schoolchildren), and Risako appeared in a kindergarten kid cosplay!
Seeing Kumai-chan with a randoseru, a sight unseen since her Nyoki Nyoki Champion randoseru graduation ceremony, everyone present shed tears of gratitude.
For 'Watashi no Mirai no Danna-sama', the two sea bream backdancers were doing as they pleased.
Berryz are the only idols that can make lying down on the stage look good! (^_^;)

As for 'Rock Erotic', Momochi made an appearance as a lovely lady dressed in a man's attire! With her two larger, beautiful partners in baggy clothes, seeing her sing and dance with a smug face was the biggest moe point of the day!
